Seth Appleton
President of USMI
The Honorable Seth Appleton is President of USMI. In this role, he leads USMI’s efforts to enable sustainable access to affordable mortgage credit for borrowers while protecting taxpayers. Seth previously served as President of MISMO, the real estate finance industry’s standards organization. Prior to that, Seth served as the Assistant Secretary for Policy Development and Research at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a position for which he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. In addition to his service as Assistant Secretary, Seth concurrently served as the Principal Executive Vice President of Ginnie Mae, a government corporation guaranteeing the timely payment of principal and interest on more than $2 trillion in mortgage-backed securities. Before joining HUD, Seth worked on Capitol Hill, including serving as Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer for more than eight years. A native of Missouri, Seth is a graduate of Stanford University and is a co-chair of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Housing Council.
Brendan Kihn
Government Relations Vice President of USMI
Brendan Kihn currently serves as the Government Relations Vice President of USMI. Brendan previously worked at Falcon Capital Advisors LLC where he served as a Policy Analyst, providing research and analysis on regulatory compliance and business operations issues impacting the housing finance system. Prior to that, he served as an Interim Director and Legislative Analyst at the Financial Services Roundtable, where he managed the Advocates for Insurance Modernization organization and tracked regulatory and legislative developments affecting the property and casualty insurance industry. Brendan is a graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law and the University of Michigan.
Christina Brown
Vice President and Senior Counsel of USMI
Christina Brown is serving as the Vice President and Senior Counsel of USMI. Prior to joining USMI, Brown worked in a senior legal role at a mid-size independent mortgage bank and on regulatory and policy matters related to residential mortgage lending and servicing for a large depository institution. Brown also previously served as Acting Principal Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she oversaw the regulatory agenda and all rulemaking. Additionally, Christina has worked in private practice on litigation and residential real estate matters. She is a graduate of the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and Ohio Wesleyan University. Christina is admitted to practice law in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
